Municipal council wants to know what the people of Summerland want from them.
On Feb. 15 an open house will be held at municipal hall where the public is invited to share suggestions.
“We want open-minded people to come with their ideas,” said Mayor Janice Perrino.
She said the municipality wants to start a strategic action committee to consider what to do to improve the community, but before the committee can act, the public needs to identify what Summerland is and what is needed.
The committee is forming in part because of concerns about the sluggish economy which is affecting Summerland and the rest of the country.
However, Perrino said the municipality is not considering hiring a new economic development officer at present.
The economic development officer position was eliminated near the end of 2010.
According to the Helios report which was released in summer, the municipality has needed to address economic development issues.
The forum will be held at the IOOF Hall on Main Street.
