A motorist removed from Kelowna roads for apparent drinking and driving on May 4, was one of five impaired driving incidents RCMP investigated in the Central Okanagan over the weekend.

At about 1:15 a.m., police were assisting paramedics in the 400 block of Lawrence Avenue when an officer witnessed an unrelated white SUV back up and come into contact with a parked RCMP vehicle before attempting to drive away.

The driver was stopped immediately and officers noticed indications of alcohol consumption from the 53-year-old woman driver.

According to Cpl. Michael Gauthier, police asked the woman for a breath sample, however, she refused.

“The driver was fined administratively with an immediate roadside prohibition which includes a $500 fine, a 90-day driving prohibition and a mandatory 30-day vehicle impound,” said Cpl. Gauthier.
