Penticton Vees netminder Will Ingemann could cap off his record-breaking rookie season by winning some BCHL awards.

The goaltender, who broke the league’s all-time shutout streak on March 1, is up for two year-end honours, BCHL officials announced on April 5.

Ingemann is nominated for the Bruce Allison Memorial Trophy (rookie of the year) and the Michael Garteig Trophy (goaltender of the year).

The Wayzata, Minn. product is joined by Vees co-captain Callum Arnott and the team’s head coach Fred Harbinson in being nominated for year-end awards.

While Arnott is up for the Bob Fenton Trophy — awarded annually to the league’s most sportsmanlike player — Harbinson finds himself nominated for the Joe Tennant Memorial Trophy (coach of the year).

Ingemann broke the all-time shutout streak after posting four consecutive shutouts through February and not allowing a goal for 260 minutes.

The 18-year-old was one of three Vees to appear at the BCHL All-Star Weekend in January.

Ingemann and the Vees begin the playoffs’ first round on Friday night, April 5, when they host the Prince George Spruce Kings at South Okanagan Events Centre.

The series’ second game goes Saturday night, with puck drop at 7 p.m. on both nights.
