When the Vernon Vipers come to Penticton later this month, the South Okanagan Events Centre is sure to be filled with pink.

The Penticton Vees’ annual Pink the Rink Night returns Friday, Feb. 16, in support of anti-bullying causes across the community.

Penticton will wear special pink jerseys when they host the Vipers and the sweaters will be auctioned off online following the game.

“The Vees are excited to have all the schools back for another great event,” said Amanda Lysohirka, the team’s director of ticketing. “We understand the importance of creating safe spaces for diversity and acceptance. Our Pink the Rink event helps elevate anti-bullying initiatives and fosters a better environment for our youth.”

A franchise record of 4,775 people attended Pink the Rink Night in 2023, when the Vees hosted the Coquitlam Express.

Several elementary schools across School District 67 will be in attendance, with COBS Bread Bakery set to give away a $500 prize in a school spirit competition during the first intermission.

Pink Shirt Day is on Feb. 28, and is recognized in schools, businesses and communities across Canada.
