Here’s what’s happening this weekend in the South Okanagan

Comedy, music and hockey headline the first weekend of the month

It’s the first weekend of November and there’s lots to do and see across the region.

Here’s what’s happening from Nov. 3 to 5:

Vees back at home (Nov. 3)

The Penticton Vees look to extend their home streak to 48 games on Friday night when they host the Cranbrook Bucks.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m.

Shaun Majumder brings the laughs to Oliver (Nov. 4)

Train Wreck Comedy returns to Oliver’s Venables Theatre on Saturday night, as Canadian comedy superstar Shaun Majumder graces the stage.

Raised in rural Newfoundland, the comedian has appeared on network television stations on both sides of the border for more than 25 years.

Majumder brings ‘The Hardly Dead Tour’ to Oliver, starting at 7:30 p.m.

Dirty Dancing in Concert (Nov. 4)

The classic film’s first live film-to-concert experience is touring across North America and stops at Penticton’s South Okanagan Events Centre on Saturday night.

A live band is set to perform songs from Dirty Dancing, as part of the production.

Show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Penticton SPCA Fundraiser at the Copper Mug (Nov. 4)

An annual fundraiser that’s given back more than $100,000 to the local SPCA branch returns to the Copper Mug Pub on Saturday night, at 5 p.m.

The fundraiser’s $30 tickets are selling fast as of late this week, according to event organizers.

Fundraiser for the Dream Cafe (Nov. 4)

A month-long auction in support of live entertainment at the popular Dream Cafe culminates with a live auction event on Saturday night.

From musicians offering to play in people’s homes to original paintings, there will be lots to bid on at the Front Street venue.

More than $16,000 has been raised thus far. Doors to the event open at 6 p.m. on Saturday.

Drum Run Adventure Tour for BC Children’s Hospital

The tour across BC is part of a 1,500-kilometre journey by international musician Lyle Povah to raise funds for BC Children’s Hospital.

The Drum Run will be in Penticton on Nov. 5 at the Seniors Drop-In Centre from 3 p.m. until 5.
