Halloween is going to the dogs in Penticton.

The first annual Hallo-weenie Parade is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 11:30 a.m.

Local Facebook group Penticton Dachshund Lovers is hosting this special event where local dachshunds will parade in their best Halloween costumes.

Owners are invited to meet with their four-legged friends at LocoLanding at 11:30 a.m., and then a walk down Lakeshore Drive. The parade will proceed to Yellow Dog Brewing on the corner of Winnipeg Street and Estabrook Avenue.

Once at Yellow Dog, there will be a food truck, a photo booth, a Halloween costume contest and award-winning beers. Donations are being accepted for both Critteraid and the BC SPCA.

The walk is free but limited to dachshunds only. Others are invited to the brewery to enjoy the festivities. All dogs participating must be on a leash and owners are responsible for picking up after them.

The group has an annual dachshund gathering at LocoLanding.
