Delicious food and live music.
Put them together this weekend and you’ll get a taste of Penticton.
The launch of a new local event, “Taste of Downtown,” is promising to celebrate all of downtown culinary highlights from Oct. 19 to 22. Festivities are organized by the Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association (DPBIA).
“This event showcases our downtown culinary diversity and the passion that local chefs infuse into their craft,” said Brett Turner, executive director of the DPBIA. “Taste of Downtown invites everyone to savour the unique flavours that define Penticton while supporting the heart of our community — our local businesses.”
In what event organizers are calling a one-of-a-kind culinary adventure, this weekend’s journey will feature downtown restaurants that offer special food items and live musical performances.
More than 10 downtown locations, including breweries and wineries, will have special menus and deals to choose from all weekend long. Participating restaurants and select deals, as well as the full music schedule, can be found here.
But having a bite to eat and tapping your foot to some local tunes won’t be all that’s featured.
Event organizers have also planned a social media contest, calling upon people to share what they experience by using the tag #tasteofdowntownpen.
The winner of the contest will receive a one-night stay at the Penticton Lakeside Resort and $250 in downtown dollars, which can be used at restaurants in the area.
“Join us in celebrating Penticton’s vibrant culinary scene, where every bite is a journey, and every restaurant is an experience,” says the DPBIA.
