On the weekend, members of the Summerland Kiwanis Club were in Wenatchee, Wash. for the 2011 Pacific Northwest District Convention.

John Tamblyn of the Summerland Kiwanis Club said the convention was an opportunity to hear speakers, discuss legislation and network with other Kiwanians to exchange information.

The main discussion was the development of the Kiwanis Children’s Cancer Program, featuring oncology doctors from the Kiwanis Doernbecher Children’s Cancer Program, Seattle Children’s Hospital Research and Foundation and the B.C. Children’s Hospital.

The Summerland Kiwanis Club is organizing a three-year project with emphasis on aiding the B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver.
