One of B.C.’s most decorated comedians is making an appearance in Summerland this July.

As part of a province-wide tour, Vancouver’s Simon King will headline a July 7 show at the Summerland Arena Banquet Room.

“Everything he’s accomplished is just about what every comedian in Canada wants to achieve,” said Nash Park, a fellow comedian of King’s who will also host the early-July show. “He’s played at just about every festival he can in Canada.”

King will be joined by Park, as well as Kelowna comedian Matt Baker for a full night of laughs at the local banquet room. The three comics will be performing 14 shows in 11 days starting on July 5, making stops in Hope, Merritt, Kelowna and Vernon, among others.

The show’s headliner has appeared on Just For Laughs, the Comedy Network and at international comedy competitions in Vancouver, Edmonton, San Francisco and Seattle.

“I really wanted to come out swinging and bring out the best comedians I could think of,” Park said, who was responsible for booking King’s upcoming appearance in the Okanagan. “I swung for the fences and was lucky enough to hit a home run with Simon King.”

King spent the first few years of his life in the U.K., before moving to B.C at a young age. His “unique and explosive delivery,” according to Park, has thrilled audiences around the world for over 20 years.

From national radio shows to international television programs, King has just about done it all in the stand-up comedy scene, according to Park.

“People in Summerland can expect some honest humour all night,” he said. “A joke only works if it’s true and if it’s a surprise.”

Admission for the trio’s comedy night is $20.

Tickets for the banquet room show can be purchased here.
