Soup’s on at the Penticton Art Gallery once more.
The 26th annual Soup Bowls fundraiser is set to return to dishing out some delicious local recipes in-person in November.
The two-night event will be held at the Penticton Art Gallery on Nov. 10 and 13, with doors opening and 6:30 p.m. to give attendees a chance to pick out their favourite hand-crafted bowl before the soups get served up at 7.

The Soup Bowls fundraiser is one of the most popular the gallery runs, with hundreds of individually unique bowls made by local artists. Not many are left by the end of the night.
The bowls themselves are crafted by the artists and members of both the Penticton and Summerland potters’ guilds.
Once patrons have their bowls, the tasty part of the evening begins, with up to a dozen different soups, stews or chili-styled recipes served up by local Penticton restaurants and businesses.
“We have quite a few restaurants in on the fun already, and this year the Gallery staff is going to try their hand at making a soup as well. With any luck we will take home one of our own prizes,” said Chelsea Terry, the gallery’s communication coordinator.
At the end of the evening, the bowls get to stay with their new owners and be taken to a new home, and the tastes of the night is recorded in a recipe book.
Not only will guests get to taste all of the soups, they will also get to vote.
The fundraiser pits local restaurants, caterers, and organizations in a friendly fight for people’s choice of the best soup each night.
After giving out door-prizes and listening to some atmospheric music provided, Curator Paul Crawford announces the people’s choice winners. Custom trophies are then given out to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
Tickets are $40 for gallery members and $45 for non-members and are now available at the gallery at 199 Marina Way, or online at www.pentictonartgallery.com/loving-mugs-and-soup-bowls.
