Rock the Lake will be back again next year.

The organizing team was so confident that they had another success on their hands that tickets next year’s event went on sale at the midway point of the weekend.

“We had a sold out crowd and people loved all the bands, ” said event manager Sean Bianchini, as the event was underway.

Rock the Lake featured a number of Canadian rock acts including April Wine, Honeymoon Suite, Toronto, Platinum Blonde, Doug and Slugs, Helix, Chilliwack, Rik Emmett, Sass Jordon and Kim Mitchell.

Tickets for this year’s event sold out, which meant 3,500 extra people were in Kelowna’s downtown each night of the weekend, making for what Bianchini said were long and fun days.

Paul Dahliwal, Kayla Dryden and Sam Shakura were at the event Saturday and were definitely enjoying the show, noting it was “too good” on Friday to take a pass on the second day of the event.

With the intention of making the festival a bit more enjoyable for attendees, organizers had added misting machines were set up with extra fans to blow the H20 further and there is free water on site.

They also took into consideration concerns raised by neighbours to Prospera Place following last year’s event.

Doug Nicholas, sport and event services manager with the city said earlier that instructions were given to the concert organizers to reduce the decibal level.

“Some people felt it was a little too loud,” said Nicholas.

In addition to the Delta Grand hotel across the street, there are a number of high-rise residential building close the music festival site.

Nicholas had said the city would be monitoring and Bianchini and his team had done what they could to turn it down from the year before.

Rock the Lake 2018 is scheduled for Aug. 10, 11 and 12, 2018. The lineup and other festival details will follow.
