Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made a brief stop in Summerland during a summer visit to British Columbia.
On July 18, Trudeau made several stops in the Okanagan Valley, including a visit to the Lutz family farm on Hillborn Street in Summerland, where he picked some cherries.
Heat and wildfires in 2021 and mild temperatures early in 2022 both affected fruit growers and resulted in a lighter than normal cherry crop.
Trudeau met with orchardist Derek Lutz, but did not take questions from media.
Earlier in the day, Trudeau had been at the BGC Okanagan in Lake Country, the BC Tree Fruits Cooperative in Kelowna and Red Bird Brewing in Kelowna.
The last time Trudeau had visited the Okanagan was in 2018 for B.C. Day in Penticton.
Earlier, in 2017, he was in Kelowna for a citizenship ceremony.
