The sounds of Christmas and signs of winter aren’t stopping the Penticton Speedway from looking ahead to next spring.

A pair of new events will hit the track in 2024: Women Behind the Wheel, which will run on three different occasions, and the western-themed OK Shootout on June 22.

The latter promises a day of cowboy-inspired racing action.

Women Behind the Wheel, meanwhile, “will offer women the unique opportunity to experience race car driving in a supportive environment with expert instructors and user-friendly cars,” the Speedway says.

The track’s first headline event will be the Malicious Monster Truck Tour, set for May 11 and 12.

The monster trucks event will be one of the many returning favourites to hit the track next year, the speedway has announced.

Other returning events confirmed for 2024 include:

• Hit-to-pass trailer race (July)

• Flying destruction event (August)

The speedway also says there will be expanded racing experiences, including the legend class and late models, and new opportunities for young drivers looking to get their start on the racetrack.

To wrap up 2024, the always-popular Spooktacular event around Halloween will return.
