The Summerland branch of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch is partnering with the Summerland Museum to mount a presentation about Summerland’s war brides.

Following World War II, more than 70,000 war brides came to Canada.

Most arrived from the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.

The Legion is aware of 43 who eventually settled in Summerland.

Now, the Legion is looking to update its list of known war brides and is encouraging them to contact John Dorn at 250-404-0318.

The museum’s war bride presentation will be held Saturday, Nov. 24 at 1:30 p.m.

Several of the war brides will be present to share their experiences of sailing to a new country to start a life with a new husband.

The Legion would like to find more war brides to participate in the museum presentation.
