The Summerland Food Bank and Resource Centre is calling for donations as volunteers are preparing to pack 140 hampers for the holiday season.
Hal Roberts, resource coordinator at the centre, said donations are continuing to come in.
“Summerland is a very generous community,” he said, adding that the centre is receiving both food and cash donations.
The centre is always in need of foods high in protein. These include canned fish, canned meat, peanut butter, nuts, beans, canned stews and other canned goods. Baby supplies are also needed.
This year, the food bank is expecting to provide 140 holiday hampers.
This represents an increase from last year’s 137 hampers and the 133 distributed the year before.
