Reservoir has a long history

The site of the Trout Creek Reservoir was originally called Barclay Lake

The image shows the Trout Creek Water Reservoir in 1889. The reservoir provides 91 per cent of Summerland’s water.

This reservoir is really a kettle lake. There are no creeks flowing into this lake. All the lake water came from ground water.

The lake was originally called Barclay Lake.

As Summerland’s demand for water increased, water was diverted from Trout Creek.

Summerland’s landfill is the closest landfill to a water reservoir in British Columbia. Frequent chemical monitoring of groundwater is important.
