SUMMERLAND MUSEUM OUT FOR A RIDE Riding was a popular pastime in 1903 — although for women, it was much more sedate than what is enjoyed today. Anita Brown is shown here on her horse Dolly at the Guisachan Ranch, in Kelowna. Women in 1903 rode side-saddle, which was, technically, much more difficult than the straddle position. Brown was a long-time Okanagan resident and in 1907, married Granville Morgan.
