An experienced sales manager has taken the role of publisher of the Summerland Review.

Larry Mercier began the position on Monday, Feb. 20.

Mercier has worked in newspaper sales and sales management for more than 35 years. He has been at the Penticton Western News for almost 25 years.

“I’m excited to be in Summerland, in this new position,” he said.

Mercier came to Penticton in 1981 to manage the local Saan store and within a year he discovered a knack for creating ads.

He was recruited by the Penticton Herald and later moved to the Western.

In addition to his newspaper work, Mercier spent some of his free time as the projectionist at the local theatre, where he met his wife.

They have four sons and two grandsons.

Rob Murphy, the sales manager at the Review for the past two years and earlier a senior sales representative at the Penticton Western News, has taken a position in a senior sales role at the Kelowna Capital News.
