Kingdom Hall will host open house

Now that their building is completed, the Jehovah’s Witnesses of Summerland will hold an open house at their new Kingdom Hall.

Now that their building is completed, the Jehovah’s Witnesses of Summerland will hold an open house at their new Kingdom Hall.

The hall was completed in mid-April, after five months of construction.

Phil Ackland, a member of the congregation, said the building replaced the much older Kingdom Hall on Julia Street.

That location had been the site of the congregation since the late 1940s. Ackland said the Julia Street building was old and had minimal electrical capacity.

The new building includes underfloor heating and computerized heating and air conditioning.

Construction was done professionally, but by volunteer labour. “They work together as a team,” Ackland said of the volunteer builders.

The congregation has a little more than 100 people, but the building has a maximum capacity of 300.

Later this month, the congregation will hold an open house at the new facility at 14806 Biagioni Ave.

The open house will be held on Friday, May 27 from 1 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, May 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
