Eggs-citing Easter weekend brings out families across the South Okanagan

Helicopter egg drop, visits with the Easter bunny and egg hunts aplenty

Families flocked to egg hunts and fundraisers across the South Okanagan this Easter weekend.

In Naramata, families and their children showed up in the hundreds for the annual Easter ‘egg’ drop from a helicopter. Thousands of ping pong balls were dropped from the helicopter to the kids below. The kids who collected the ping pong balls were able to trade them in for treats.

The Kiwanis Club of Penticton welcomed 303 kids to the Penticton Safety Village for the Easter Hop-Along. The event was so popular the registration filled up and the club had to open a waiting list.

Children up to elementary school age were able to walk and ride through the Safety Village collecting Easter treats, and at the same time, the club raised a truck-load of non-perishable food donations for the community.

The fundraising efforts over the weekend continued throughout the valley, and in Osoyoos, the Easter Eggstravaganza was a big hit, with its Easter Egg Hunt, races and live entertainment.

Osoyoos Fire Rescue sold out of all 225 of their charity hot dogs within a half-hour of starting to serve them up.

Penticton Lakeside Resort held a Ukrainian Easter bake sale fundraiser on Sunday, brunch as well as an egg hunt and visit with GottaGoat Farm’s baby goats.
