The Summerland Jets had a busy weekend of minor hockey action on Jan. 14 and 15.
At the Summerland Arena, the Jets U11 hosted a tournament of eight teams including teams from as far away as Aldergrove, Chilliwack and Kamloops.
Both Jets U11 teams made it to the semi-final round.
Both goalies, Huxley Hartney and Atticus ‘Showman’ Skinner were excellent.

Tanner Dollevoet and Jake Hagen had nice breakaway goals. Previously when these two teams met, the game morphed into a dance contest starring Skinner and Gavin Oliver. This time, the teams were more serious and less dancing.
For this contest, it was the Jets U11 White team who managed to win the game.
The final game of the tournament was between the Summerland Jets U11 White against the Kamloops Knights.
Kamloops scored first with two goals and then Summerland tied the game.
The two teams exchanged goals and still a tied game.
With seven seconds left in the game, the Knights scored to win the game and the tournament.
Some Summerland players worth mentioning were speedy defense Ilo Bienz, Dollevoet, Hartney, Oliver with his best game of the season, Jase Puchmayr and hard-working Brooklyn Riep.
The first star of the game was an easy pick as Evelyn Harding scored two goals. With her speed, she can get into perfect position.
Both goals were the same; perfect spot for a rebound into the net.
The second tournament was Penticton’s U7 contest.
This included 12 teams. Summerland sent both its U7 Blue and U7 White teams.
Some of the highlights were Everett Aoki’s perfect goal through the five hole on the South Okanagan goalie in the first game.
Sam Bullen continues to be a scoring threat.
Both Grayson Gidding and Waylon Graham had strong games. Aubrey Turenne was effective as a “stay-at-home” defense.
Centre Joy Wu scored her first goal of her hockey career.
In recent games, both Malia Cox and Sawyer Koldyk have been on scoring streaks.
The Summerland fans were ready to throw hats on the ice if the two got three goals, but didn’t happen.
Still, each scored goals in each game.
The tournament featured a total of 25 games.
