Jason Scherban, a member of the Summerland Secondary track and field team, competed at the Oregon Relays track meet in April.
The meet is held at Hayward Field at the University of Oregon.
Scherban competed in the 800-metre race, against some of the top competition in the western United States, and finished in seventh place.
Scherban, a Grade 11 student, is looking forward to having an excellent track season this year. He hopes to continue his track pursuits at an American university in the future.
