Summerland Steam win two weekend games

Junior B team faced Chase and North Okanagan

The Summerland Steam won a pair of Junior B hockey games, including one in overtime, during weekend hockey action.

On Saturday, Oct. 15, the Steam hosted the Chase Heat, playing to a 5-4 overtime win.

Matthew Poole of the Heat opened scoring at 8:14 in the first period, assisted by Jacob Biensch and Brayden Haskell.

The Steam dominated the second period with two goals. Prezton Stewart, assisted by Zach Mansfield and Jack Lynes, scored at 3:53 and Tristan Weill had an unassisted goal at 6:01.

In the third period, Biensch of the Heat scored at 8:15, assisted by Lucas Ouellette and Aiden Brown.

Brody Elchyson of the Steam responded with a goal at 8:42, assisted by Ethan Swift and Parker Konneke.

The Heat then added two goals. Haskell scored at 13:42, assisted by Jarod Sigouin and Bhavin Serown scored at 18:22, with assists by Biensch and Brown.

At 19:59. Ethan Swift of the Steam scored, assisted by Weill, to tie the game.

Swift scored the winning goal at 2:30 in overtime, with the assist by Weill.

On Sunday, the Steam travelled to Armstrong to face the North Okanagan Knights, winning 4-2.

The Steam opened scoring at 0:54 in the first periodwith a goal by Jackson MacDonald, assisted by Cole Waldbillig. Swift added a goal at 9:53, assisted by Weill.

The Knights responded at 15:41, with a goal by Matthew Johnston, assisted by Cade Enns and Tyson Tupper.

In the second period, Riley Zdan of the Knights scored at 12:01, assisted by Johnston.

The Steam responded at 17:33 with a goal by Stewart and assisted by Konneke and Swift.

In the third period, Marc Ducharme of the Steam scored at 19:59, with assists by Swift and Colton Macaulay.
