Summerland Steam to face Kelowna Chiefs in hockey playoffs

Junior B action begins Feb. 22 at Rutland Arena

The Summerland Steam will face the Kelowna Chiefs in Junior B playoff action.

On Tuesday, Feb. 22 and Wednesday, Feb. 23, the Steam will travel to the Rutland Arena to face the Chiefs. Both games begin at 7 p.m.

On Friday, Feb. 25 and Saturday, Feb. 26, the Steam will host the Chiefs at the Summerland Arena. The games begin at 7:30 p.m.

Additional games, if needed, are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 28 at 7 p.m. in Rutland. Tuesday, March 1 at 7 p.m. in Summerland and Wednesday, March 2 at 7 p.m. in Rutland.

In regular season action, the Chiefs finished in second place in the Bill Ohlhausen Division of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League while the Steam finished in third place.

The Chiefs had a record of 26 wins, 13 losses, two overtime losses and one shoot out loss. The Steam finished the season with 22 wins, 16 losses, two overtime losses and two shoot out losses.

The winner of this best of seven series will face the winner of a playoff series between the Osoyoos Coyotes and the Princeton Posse. The Coyotes are the top-ranked team in the division, while the Posse finished fourth in the division.
