For around 20 years, the Okanagan-Skaha School District’s cross country runs have been hosted by Naramata, Trout Creek and Kaleden elementary schools.

This year, Kaleden was unable to host the race, so Summerland’s Giant’s Head School stepped in and hosted for the first time.

There were 550 students from Grades 3 to 5 in the event. The Grade 3 students ran for two kilometres and Grade 4 and 5 students ran four kilometres.

The event took place at the Kettle Valley Steam Railway station. The race began at the train station’s parking lot.

There were six races. Uplands Elementary School had seven of the top three finishers from the six races. In second place was Wiltse and Trout Creek and Giant’s Head schools were tied for third place.
