An amazing Fall Brawl tournament that hosted teams from the lower mainland, the Kootenays and the Okanagan Valley saw the Summerland Peewee Jets Rep team win the gold medal on Oct. 21.

When the buzzer sounded at the end of the final game it could barely be heard over the sound of cheering. Summerland won their own home tournament.

Every game was a true battle and the defence — Brayden Gosselin, Kieran Keilty, Ky Martens and Russell Weatherhead — were a solid wall that made it nearly impossible to get through, but if anyone did, the spectacular goaltending by the Denton Manders and Austin Mayer-Gillis duo was there jump on the puck, poke it out or make the save.

The Jets applied pressure with the fast-moving forwards Brendan Becker, Jack Campbell, Simon Cecconi, Drayton Johnston, Everett Miller, Ryder Wilson and Aydan Yargeau taking short shifts, skating fast, shooting hard, and keeping incredible pressure on every play.

When the final score came in at 4-0, the team lined up interlocking arms on the blue line to receive their medals from head coach Justin Martens and assistant coaches Jordan Perrey and Bill Wilson.

The entire team has worked extremely hard in practice, dry land and attacking personal challenges they’d set for themselves and all the hard work paid off.

The team is sponsored by Okanagan Hockey Academy.
