Summerland golfers compete in league games

Summerland Ladies Club

On Tuesday, June 18, the Summerland Golf and Country Ladies Club competed in the Dot Foreman Memorial Tournament, a low net competition.

The winner was Vijai Vaagen, with a 68 net, and the runner-up was Lil Smith, with a 72 net.

Other winners: Third Christine Haessig, 73; fourth Pat Stohl, 74; tied for fifth, Carol Mulligan and Kathy Larkin, net 76; seventh Lanette Graham, 79; and eighth Lynne Karaim, net 79.

Summerland Senior Men

On June 20, the Summerland Senior Men’s Club played a team par points format, counting all four scores.

The winning team with 142 points were Bob Fortune, Nick Coe, Doug Marchesi and Bob Dickeson.

Finishing second by countback with 141 points were Alf Vaagen, David Smith, Jerry Sauve and Dave Cain.

In third place with also 141 points were Terry Steinke, Joe Beggs, Gulbag Hans and Mike Bevan.

Four players shared the deuce pot, Nick Coe, Dave Carleton, Mike Bevan and Al Thomas.
