Summerland U19 Days Inn Scorch and U12 Zias were in Sicamous last weekend for the District #9 playdowns leading to the provincials.

The U10 team, coached by Tom Nelson and Gary McDonald, played well all weekend and improved all year, but did not win a game in the round robin so they did not advance to the semi finals.

The U19 Days Inn Scorch, coached by Brad Smith and Joe Cutt, started the tournament by playing the Okanagan Mustangs on Saturday morning and defeated them 10-6.

The team continued through the round robin undefeated.

On Sunday at noon the girls played Westside in the semi-final. Erin English pitched with Kelsey Dobson catching.

The girls won a hard-fought game 13-12 in an hour and a half.

Marlee Horning started the final game with Kelsey Dobson catching against Kelowna Okanagan Mustangs.

The team has played hard with key hits from Dobson, English, Nicole Wier and Marlee Horning during this game.

All the team members played well with great hits and catches at key times which helped them defeat the Mustangs 13-4.

The team will go to North Vancouver July 8 to 10 at the Provincial Championships.

Team members will be out fundraising and looking for donations to attend the provincials and we would like the help of the entire valley to get them there.
