A Princeton Posse hockey player has been named one of three stars of the week in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League.
Blake Sittler was selected for the week ending March 16, along with Luke Rothfos of the Kamloops Storm and Logan McCabe of the Grand Forks Border Bruins.
Sittler, a goaltender with the Posse, opened the team’s series against the Revelstoke Grizzlies with a 28-save shutout performance. The team went on to earn a 3-0 victory in the opening game of the best-of-seven series.
In the final period of that game, Sittler faced 11 shots.
In playoff action, Sittler, from Dodsland, Sask., had four wins, four losses, and zero overtime losses, with a 1.00 goals-against average and a .964 save percentage.
At present, the Posse are facing the Grizzlies in the Bill Ohlhausen Division Finals. The two teams are tied at one win each. In regular season play, the Posse were in first place in the division, while the Grizzlies were in second place.
