Four days after sweeping the Prince George Spruce Kings in the second round of the B.C. Hockey League Playoffs, the Penticton Vees officially have a third-round opponent.

The West Kelowna Warriors earned their place in the Interior Conference Finals after defeating the Salmon Arm Silverbacks on Friday night (April 22), clinching their spot in the next round and setting up a third-round matchup with the Vees.

West Kelowna jumped out to a commanding 3-0 series, before dropping Game No. 4 by a margin of 5-1 on April 20. The Warriors made the most of their next opportunity on Friday, however, to close the series and send the Silverbacks home.

Games one and two of the third-round series between the Warriors and Vees will go on April 29 and 30 at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

Tickets officially went on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday morning at valleyfirsttix.com.

Penticton has won eight straight playoff games, after losing its playoff opener to the Trail Smoke Eaters on March 31 on home ice.

West Kelowna, meanwhile, has won both of its playoff rounds in five games — first against the Vernon Vipers and then with the aforementioned Silverbacks.

The Vees finished with the best record in the conference, while the Warriors placed as the third-best Interior Conference squad.

Puck drop for the first two third-round games is slated for 7 p.m.
