The Penticton Vees will begin their B.C. Hockey League title defense at home this September.
The newly-crowned Fred Page Cup winners are set to take on the Trail Smoke Eaters on Sept. 23 at the South Okanagan Events Centre to kick off their 2022-2023 regular season, per Thursday morning’s BCHL schedule release.
A total of four banners will be raised before the puck drops in honour of the Vees’ historic 2021-2022 season: the Fred Page Cup championship, the Interior Division championship, the BCHL regular-season title and an Interior Conference Pennant.
Penticton will play the Cranbrook Bucks the next day to wrap up its opening weekend.
Season tickets are available here.
A number of scheduling changes have been implemented in this year’s BCHL schedule. More weekend games are featured to mirror what a college hockey calendar would typically look like.
Penticton will host the 2023 BCHL All-Star game in January, which will include a top prospects game. The city’s new outdoor rink on Martin Street is expected to host the festivities.
