The Penticton Vees have acquired 20-year-old forward Eric Linell from the Surrey Eagles in a multi-team, BC Hockey League trade announced Thursday.
Linell, from Great Neck, N.Y. is in his second season in the league playing 2017-18 with the Coquitlam Express, finishing up as the club’s leading scorer with 46 points in 58 games, double that of his next closest teammate.
In nine games with the Eagles this year he had five goals and six assists including the only goal in the Vee’s 4-1 win over Surrey at the Bauer BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack.
He comes to Penticton with an NCAA scholarship to the University of Connecticut.
Linell’s trade from for future considerations also saw the Vees deal 18-year-old forward Sammy Steele to the Nanaimo Clippers for future considerations.
Steele, from Hummelstown, Penn., played in all seven games for the Vees this season, being held pointless.
Linell will wear number five and will be in the lineup Friday when the Vees host the Vernon Vipers at the South Okanagan Events Centre starting at 7 p.m.
