It was a busy weekend of minor hockey action in Summerland on Nov. 19 and 20.

The first game on Saturday, Nov. 19, was Summerland’s U11 Blue hosting West Kelowna. It was a battle of the goaltenders, with both teams with hot goalies.

In net for West Kelowna was Liam Elsenheimer. Summerland’s regular goalie, Atticus Zaseybida Skinner, was in Vancouver sitting out a dispute with his hockey contract. In his place was Casey ‘Crusher’ Harbinson.

Harbinson’s relaxed goaltending was effective.

West Kelowna’s Zander Burden and Sloan French had several clear cut breakaways but were stopped by Harbinson.

Summerland had some nice goals by Jake Hagen and Harvey Barker. The three stars were Callen Hantelmann, Oliver Nichol and Gavin Wise.

The second game was U11 White challenging Princeton. The highlight of the game was the return of popular team-mate Nicolai Jorgenson.

Jorgenson had been injured before the start of the hockey season and it was his first game. Summerland players with a good game were Linden Siebert, Islo Bienz and Connor Serbon. The three stars of the game were goaltender Huxley Hartney, Maya Verner and Islo Bienz.

The third game featured the U9 White versus Penticton.

The Penticton squad had a short bench but with skilled players. The combination of Will Pagett and Mowbray produced some beautiful goals.

Summerland players who had strong games were speedy Corban Gay, Bryce Hotson and Kaylie Vanche. The three stars of the game were goaltender Broxton Hass, Stryker Safan and Ethan Roach.

The Summerland arena hosted more games on Sunday, Nov. 20.

One interesting match was between Penticton’s Junior Leafs and the U9 White squad. The Junior Leafs, with their speedy skating, outshot the Summerland team but Summerland had great goaltending from Kaylie Vancha.

Penticton players of note were Carter Trobeck, Dane Baylis and goaltender Lex Konge. Probably the best goal of the game was when Summerland’s Nolan Barker swept in on Lex Konge and had a perfect shot through the five hole to score.

The three stars of the game were Brodie Marsh, Gabriel Boucher and goaltender Kaylie Vancha.
