A Summerland athlete will compete in the triathlon event at the B.C. Summer Games in Abbotsford this weekend.
Keagan Ingram has been a triathlete for the past five years.
Last weekend, at the Fun in the Sun triathlon held in Summerland, Ingram finished first in the male 14 to 15 category.
At the B.C. Summer Games, he expects to bring home a silver or bronze medal.
The triathlon includes swimming, cycling and running components.
“I like the fact that you do multiple sports and not just one,” he said about triathlon competitions.
Ingram said he is strongest in the running portion of the race and weakest in the cycling component.
In addition to training for the three components, Ingram and other triathletes also train in the transitions from one to the next.
He hopes to continue with his sport in the future.
“I’m hoping to one day make it to the Olympics and the Canadian team,” he said.
