Flames fan to leave with car

A car will be given away during the South Okanagan Flames last home game June 19.

If Kevin Thompson could, he would watch the South Okanagan Flames play their final regular season home game from the stands.

The Flames coach even joked he would enjoy a cold beverage while taking in the Thompson Okanagan Junior Lacrosse League game against the Kamloops Venom at Memorial Arena, June 19 at 7:30 p.m.

“For a Monday night, two hours to come into the old barn, which is a beautiful place, and the fun and the excitement sitting there. The battles that go on out there. If you come here and you don’t enjoy this, you might be brain dead,” he joked.

There’s added incentive in attending. Every person aged 16 and over who purchases a ticket will be entered into a draw to win a 1999 Mercury Sable, courtesy of Underwriter’s Insurance.

“It’s a great night. Neil loves the game. He loves the Flames,” said Thompson. “Neil loves the fans as well.”

It will be a rematch between the teams after their last game was cancelled and the Flames were given a 1-0 win when the Venom forfeited. Earlier in the season, the Venom defeated the Flames 12-3.

On Thursday, the Flames were in Kelowna taking on the Raiders winning 16-6. Sam Jones led the Flames attack with six goals. Jake MacLeod collected five assists to go with a goal.
