Atom Jets home after tough road trips

The Summerland Jets Atom Development squad returned home to the friendly confines of their home arena after some tough road trips.

The Summerland Jets Atom Development squad returned home to the friendly confines of their home arena after some tough road trips to Clearwater, Chase and Vernon.

The Jets faced off against the Clearwater Hawks on Saturday afternoon in an exciting back and forth affair that was enjoyed by all.

Summerland jumped out to a first period lead on a goal by Mereno Coco and the Jets looked to be in control of the game.

In the second period the Hawks responded with three goals, but the Jets were able to stay close as Quinn Moberg scored his first goal of the year. The score could have favoured the Hawks more, but defensive stalwarts Liam Trewhitt and Darren Keilty shut down numerous rushes to keep it close.

The third period saw a flurry of action with goals coming fast and furious. The Jets would score four times – one goal from Stephen Searcy on a breakaway and a crucial hat-trick from Mitch Gove.  The last of Gove’s goals came with just 47 seconds left in the period while the Jets were shorthanded to give the Jets the 6 - 5 victory.
