Skaha Kennel Club holds dog show

Dogs will make their way to Summerland this weekend as the Skaha Kennel Club holds its annual all-breed dog show.

Dogs will make their way to Summerland this weekend as the Skaha Kennel Club holds its annual all-breed dog show.

The dog show will be held Sept. 9 to 11 at the Dale Meadow Sports Complex.

The participating dogs will compete in conformation, obedience and rally obedience.

Conformation is the judging of dogs against their breed standard, established by the breed’s parent club and the Canadian Kennel Club.

Obedience and rally obedience are performance events. Dogs are judged on how well they carry out exercises at different levels.

A panel of judges from Ireland, the Philippines, Ontario and British Columbia will judge the dogs.

This is the first time the Skaha Kennel Club is holding its show in Summerland.

While spectators are welcome, only dogs in the show will be allowed on the show grounds.
