New blood needed on Summerland council

Why should we support the same councillors who are running for re-election?

Dear Editor:

I read Mayor Peter Waterman’s list of accomplishments during the past four years — for him personally a legacy of one term as mayor and three more terms as a councillor.

He also mentioned a few things that should have been on the list that never managed to reach conclusion.

However, he did not mention his support for the development in the Banks Crescent/Bristow Valley nor the support he gave for the regional district’s plan to use our municipal landfill as a dumping ground, despite the objections of an informed Summerland public.

So, why should we support the same councillors who are running for re-election and the former mayor who knows he wouldn’t possibly be re-elected this time around, when the last four years were less than modest in their accomplishments?

I suggest some new blood is needed, even though some candidates have very little experience.

They can’t possibly do any worse, and perhaps they might consider fixing up Summerland’s dilapidated roads.
