LETTER: Water upgrade was handled well

Congratulations to the District of Summerland for their excellent job handling the upgrade of Summerland’s water system.

Dear Editor:

Congratulations to the District of Summerland for their excellent job handling the upgrade of Summerland’s water system, especially communication and assistance to initially discombobulated residents.

Returning from an astronomical expedition to Osoyoos I had a look and took photos of the work by the Victoria Ovalabout at 12.30 a.m. Sunday.

While this underground vault is the largest and looked close to 30 feet in depth, I was told we have 15 pressure reducing valves in total.

Perhaps thanks to all those who left town, us stoic remainers had normal water pressure.

My stored 50 litres for drinking and cooking are plenty and could keep me going for 10 days.

While an Okanagan earthquake is much less likely than at the coast, we should all have prepared emergency kits, the most vital part of which is drinking water.

I’ll keep my container full and put together that kit I’ve been meaning to do for years!
