Dear Editor:
Both Alberta and British Columbia premiers have got their little spat all wrong.
We in British Columbia are not worried about another pipeline running alongside the existing pipeline. What we are worried about is the excess of tankers filling up and using the Inside Passage to get to their destination.
Fill your tankers up but go around the south end of Vancouver Island and go straight out sea and keep away from our delicate Inside Passage unless you like oil-soaked sea life on your dinner plate.
Pollution in our oceans is bad enough with out tankers spilling their guts close to the land.
In fact, if I were in control, I would stop all heavy ship traffic except coastal vessels from using the Inside Passage.
Please don’t tell me that all tankers will have double hulls and are perfectly safe. Even triple hulls can break up when another tanker hits them hard with their pointy end!
