LETTER: Has developer received commitment from council?

If the hatchery is not satisfied with alternative water solutions, will council shut down the project?

Dear Editor:

At the Feb. 14 Summerland council meeting, the following question was asked. “If the hatchery is not satisfied with alternative water solutions, will council shut down the project”?

The mayor, Chief Administrative Officer and council were silent.

The question was then rephrased. “If we are to understand correctly, even if the Hatchery says no, there is a chance the District may still approve the project anyway”?

Again there was silence.

Could their silence at being asked this question twice, be interpreted that perhaps there has already been some type of commitment, real or implied made to the developer that their project would be approved?

It is scary to think this might be the case but I feel the good folks of the District of Summerland need to know the honest answer to this question.

Has any type of commitment already been made to the developer and land owner on the Bristow project?
