Dear Editor:

On April 30, Summerland will be losing, in my opinion, one of the most dedicated doctors who has practiced here for the past 15 years.

Dr. Wendy Richardson, a compassionate, caring, tireless dedicated person, will be leaving to go back to her homeland, England, to marry her first love.

In Wendy’s words, “Making the decision to leave my practice has not been easy, and leaving my practice with so many wonderful patients will be the most difficult part. Thank you for the privilege of being your family doctor. I wish you the best of health in the future.”

Unfortunately, she has been unable to find anyone to take over her practice.

Wendy worked five days a week, did the odd house call, and when you went to her office for a consultation, you were treated like a friend and with respect.

She was never on time because she gave all her patients her undivided attention, and this took time as she was caring about all aspects of their lives.

Patients did not complain, forget about a 10-minute appointment and only discuss one medical issue and make another appointment. You were there for the long haul.

You came out of the consultation feeling much relieved in knowing that Wendy would get to the bottom of what ailed you.

She cared about every living creature, whether it be human or animal, her patient or someone else’s she came across in distress. It didn’t matter.

My family and I wish her and Simon the very best of happiness and a long and healthy life together.

He is in good hands as Wendy is a great doctor.
