Every once in a while a really great “Act Now!” opportunity rolls around and, if you’re in position to be in a position where you can, in fact, act now, it could be the perfect opportunity for you.
There just so happens to be one such opportunity that is happening right now here in Summerland.
The Summerland Community Arts Council is looking for a new office manager/receptionist.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to get involved in the arts scene here in Summerland, especially if you’ve been hoping to get involved for a while, but haven’t been too sure how to do so.
The job involves helping board members, committees and members accomplish their tasks and, to do so, you need to be good with people, organized and have good communication skills.
A love of the arts and a passion for the art scene here in Summerland also helps. There’s (kind of) a catch, though. You have to apply by Jan. 20.
As short as the notice is, this is going to be a great opportunity for someone who’s interested in getting involved in the arts.
I’ve had a couple of opportunities come up that have been similar to this in the last year or so and, every time I’ve acted on the chance, it’s been totally worth it.
Not only does it present an excellent opportunity to learn about the arts—if you’re in the mood to learn—but you’ll be exposed to every aspect of the arts scene here in Summerland.

For those who are looking for a different kind of opportunity, don’t forget about the weekly “Have You Ever Wanted To…” sessions the Arts Council is running on Wednesdays.
The next session is about discovering the joys of abandoned art with Sharon Kurtz.
These sessions run from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Arts Centre on Wharton St. and are a great way to try new forms of creating.
