In loving memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dad, Vic Smith.
Vic will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his family, Jim (Esperanza), Larry (Debbie), Vickie (Ken) Ohmenzetter, Jacquie Spencer, Tracey (Ian) Field; 8 grandchildren, Jeremy (Sue), Jamie (John), Cala, Carlie (Robin), Stephanie (Cait), Kelsey (Bill), Mike, Daniel (Reesa); 4 great-grandchildren, Peyton, Blake, Axle, and Bode; sister, Leone Ninow; brother, Alan; sister-in-law, Lil Smith; along with many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife, Ethel, of 62 years; parents, Louis A. & Isabel Smith; sister, Joy Reid; and brothers, George and Dave.
Vic was a lifelong resident of Summerland and a prominent business owner, along with his brother Dave. They owned Five Corners Chevron (1964-1982) and the Summerland Rental Centre (1983-1996).
For many years, Vic was immersed in the community, volunteering with the Summerland Rotary Club, Summerland Yacht Club, Elks, Masons, Cubs and Scouts.
Vic, along with his wife Ethel, travelled extensively throughout their retirement, enjoying many exciting adventures. The most enjoyable trips were times spent with the RV Club and friends.
Many special occasions were spent at their home, from birthday parties, anniversaries, graduations, reunions, weddings, family BBQ's and dinners.
Vic's pride and joy was puttering in his yard and woodworking shop. If any of us kids had a home project on the go, at the drop of a hat, Dad would be there to help.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Moog & Friends Hospice House in Penticton, to the Kidney Foundation of BC.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Condolences may be left at providendencefuneralhomes.com.
