Roy WELLWOOD

Roy WELLWOOD of Summerland passed away May 3, 2007 at the age of 92. Roy was born on September 21, 1914 to William and Ida Wellwood of Asquith, Saskatchewan. Roy was pre-deceased by his wife Frances Irene in May 2004 and his son Michael in 1992. Roy leaves to mourn his passing his son William and daughters Cheryl (Norman) Hill, Peggy (Ted) Scott and Ida (Chris Roberts) Wellwood; also seven grandchildren; six great grandchildren and sisters Dorothy (Percy) Miller, Sadie (Henry) Windels, Ella Tiessen and Olive Rousell and brother Tom (Laura) Wellwood. Roy moved to Summerland in 1938 where he met Frances (Frankie) Baldwin. They were married in 1942. He served with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Roy and Frankie resided in Summerland until 1963 when they moved to Kamloops. They resided in Kamloops for 36 years returning to Summerland in 1999. Roy was active in the community, the Baptist Church and Gideons International. He was a founding member of the Southwest Community Baptist Church in Kamloops and was involved with curling, horseshoes and the Happy Choristers while in Kamloops. In 1993 he was awarded a Kamloops Centennial medal for his service to the City of Kamloops. A service will be held at Summerland Funeral Home Rosedale Chapel on Friday, May 18, 2007 at 1:00pm.
