In Loving Memory ~

Rose Patricia Smith (Scott) of Summerland, BC passed away peacefully on August 9, 2024, at the age of 96.

Rose leaves to mourn her passing: Wendy (Jerry) Schindel of Summerland, Robyn (Gregg) Wilson of Summerland, daughter-in-law Anita (Terry dec.) Smith of Moose Jaw Saskatchewan and Glenda (Danny dec.) Smith of Strome, Alberta.

Rose also leaves behind eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law Edna Dickinson of Victoria, BC, Dorothy Smith of St. Albert, Alberta and brother-in-laws Roy Smith of Vancouver, BC and John Pass of Regina, Sask.

Sadly, Rose was predeceased by her husband of 60 years John C. Smith (2007), infant daughter Toni Lee (1948), son Terry (2014) and son Danny (2015) daughter Denise (2018), Grandson Geoffrey (2010) great-grandson Austin (2019), great-granddaughter Kalli (2024) and her three brothers Vern, Gord and Doug Scott.

Rose was born to Joseph and Daisy Scott in Moose Jaw Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of four and the only girl. On June 7, 1947, Rose married her childhood sweetheart John, upon his return from the war.

Rose and John had a well-travelled life as John was in the RCAF. They lived across Canada, and Europe. Rose's most memorable period in all their travels, was her time spent in France, and Germany, with Spain being her most favourite country to visit.

Rose and John chose Summerland to retire in 1975. Rose enjoyed many activities, such as knitting, bowling, swimming daily at the pool and watching her grandsons play hockey.

Rose enjoyed company, and you could always count on her to welcome you in with a smile. Her door was always open for family and friends, and she never let you leave before she offered you tea, she had fed you or given you a place to rest your head for the night.

Rose has left her family with an irreplaceable void. Her family takes comfort that she has reunited with John, and all her children who left before her. A special thank you to Dr. Sarah Grant, Dr. Tiffany Bursey, and all the staff at Moog and Friends for the kind and compassionate care mom received in her final days.

No Service at Rose's request.
