Phyllis Mathilda Minard November 28, 1921 - April 2, 2010 It is with sadness we announce the passing of Phyllis Minard at the age of 88 on April 2, 2010 at Penticton, B.C. Phyllis was born in Cleeves, Saskatchewan on November 28,1921 to George and Tillie Cleve (Anderson) and moved with her family to the Meadowview area near La Glace, Alberta in 1929. Phyllis attended school in Meadowville, then Bighorn and boarded out to attend high school in Wembley. She loved playing softball and in later years always enjoyed a game of baseball on her television. In 1941 she travelled to Yellowknife by small plane to marry Peter Sebastian and they lived there until 1945 when they started farming at Lake Saskatoon with Peter’s twin brother Paul. The family bought a farm closer to Wembley about 10 years later . Phyllis was active in the Lake Saskatoon Community Club and later became a lifetime member. In 1967 Peter suffered a heart attack and passed away. Phyllis remained on the farm for a few years then moved to Grande Prairie and worked in Social Services for the City of Grande Prairie. In 1974 she married Al Severson and they later moved to Summerland, B.C. Al passed away from cancer in 1976. Phyllis worked as a Home Care coordinator for the town of Summerland for a number of years until in 1981 she married Bob Minard and they travelled to Mesa, Arizona for their winters. They spent many happy winters in Mesa with the friends they met there. After Bob’s passing in 1992 she became active in the Summerland Seniors Centre and the Sumac Senior Ladies golf club. She enjoyed many afternoons and evenings playing cards, visiting or knitting at home. She is survived by daughter Lois (John), son Roy (Joyce); grandchildren Edward (Dione) great grandchildren Madison and Cole; Deanna (Darryl), great grandchildren Benjamin and Lucas; Kevin (Tamara), great grandchildren Taylor and Jackson. Services were held in Summerland, B.C. on April 9, 2010 and her ashes will be interred at Lake Saskatoon at a later date. Condolences may be directed to the family at providencefuneralhomes.com.
