PHILIP PELLETIER

December 15, 2011

Philip Pelletier

It is with sadness that Evelyn Pollock (Lorne) and Jeannie Haslett (Ron) announce the passing of their wonderful father Philip Pelletier at Moog & Friends Hospice on December 15, 2011. Dad was the youngest of 16 children born to Ferdinand & Justine Pelletier on March 25, 1922 in Duck Lake Saskatchewan. He married our mother, Florence Dagenais in May of 1942. A World War II Veteran, he was conscripted into the army soon after his marriage to Mom. In 1948 he moved his young family to Summerland to start a better life. Dad loved Summerland, which remained home to him for the rest of his life. We will fondly remember Dad along with his grandchildren Stephen (Alicia); Marnie (Trevor); Katie (Paul); Tara (Marty); great grandchildren Braedan, Kate, Matthew and Ashley. Dad will be sadly missed by his dear friend and companion Mary Richards, and her family who made him feel welcomed into their lives. Imelda Kedge who was like his third daughter will also miss him. Dad was predeceased by many family members including his beloved wife Florence in 2002; infant son Rèal; his parents and 15 siblings. Special thanks to the caring staff at Moog and Friends - you truly honoured Dad’s wishes; to Carmen and Paul from the Nurse Next Door for your patience and kindness; the Interior Health Home and Community Care staff; and to Drs. Brent and Cathy Harrold and members of your clinic for everything you did for Dad over the years. Thank you Don Wood, you have always been there for us – you are a very special person. A celebration of Dad’s life will be held on January 7, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Child, 14010 Rosedale Avenue, Summerland BC. A reception will be held at the Church following interment of his ashes at Canyon View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to Penticton & District Hospice Society c/o Moog & Friends Hospice House, P.O. Box 1105, Penticton, BC V2A 6J9.
