MIWA NAKASHIBA

December 27, 2016

(December 13, 1921 ~ December 27, 2016)

Miwa Nakashiba passed away peacefully at the Summerland Senior’s Village. She began her life in Summerland, the youngest of 3 children born to pioneer Summerland residents, George and Sugae Tada. Miwa had all her schooling in Summerland and worked in the orchards with her brother ‘Chew’. She later attended business college and began a career in a Vancouver bank. She met her future husband when both were on a trip to Japan and married him in Summerland in 1969. They lived in Toronto until his death in 1998. Miwa moved back to Summerland in 2001 to look after her brother and in 2012 she moved again when she suffered health problems, this time into the Summerland Senior’s Village. She enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and having visits from friends. Miwa was predeceased by her parents, sister, brother and husband. She is survived by a niece and nephew in Ontario, 3 cousins in Japan, and good friend Marge Kuroda in Summerland. Many thanks to the staff at Summerland Senior’s Village for all the love and care.
