March 15, 1938 - December 14, 2021
June Marie Beairsto, of Vernon British Columbia (BC), passed away on December 14, 2021, at Polson Care Home. June was born March 15, 1938, in Lethbridge, Alberta to Marvin and Matilda (Backnak/Sweda) Popham. June grew up in Vernon B.C. During her high school years, she was introduced to the love of her life, Donald J.K. Beairsto, by his cousin and her best friend Roberta (Varley) Hennig. The couple married January of 1956 and shared a life together for nearly four decades. They resided together with their two children, Laurie and David, in the communities of Vernon, Williams Lake, and Kamloops. Their later years, without the responsibility of parenthood, were spent in the city of Summerland. June loved animals and nature; and of her many interests, especially enjoyed reading, walking, gardening, bird watching, and interior decorating. June always owned a pet; either a dog, a cat, or a bird, and on one occasion an orphaned skunk (named Flower of course). June trained as an administrative office assistant and was employed in the health services. June is best remembered for her compassionate and caring nature, ready smile, cheerful personality, and infectious laugh. She was beloved of many and will be dearly missed.
June is predeceased by her parents, Marvin and Matilda Popham, by her husband Donald (Don) Beairsto, and by their son, David Donald Beairsto.
June is survived by her daughter Laurie (William) Crawford of Quesnel, BC; her brothers Roy (Mavis) Popham of Vernon BC, and Don (Joanne) Popham of Salmon Arm, BC.; Her sister-in-law Patricia (Beairsto) and husband Ted Archibald of Maple Ridge, BC; her grandchildren David (Karla) Crawford of Prince George BC; and Don (Amy) Crawford of Quesnel BC; great-grandchildren Malcolm and Noah Crawford of Prince George BC., and many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
June's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Polson Care Home for their care, dedication, and support, especially during the final days of her life. June was grateful and appreciative of her niece, Rhonda (Popham), and her husband Jim Bennetto, for providing help and assistance upon her relocation to Vernon, and subsequent housing changes within the community.
